Taro Watanabe is a Malibu native. He's a soft-spoken wonder kid who's always smiling on land, but when he starts moving through a lineup, water gets displaced by the bucket. A proud mentee of Brad Gerlach, Taro is well trained in the ways of Waveki.
In a world that seems to idealize twitchy snaps, text-book turns, and over-claimed air reverses, Taro Watanabe is the rebuttal. He is pro surfings evolution on an alternate timeline, if it progressed with an emphasis on creative lines, steady flow, and power. Taro is not glued to the wave though, one of Taro's most notable abilities is his signature blow tail. When you combine that with some stylish straight airs, a few rail grab reverses, and his impeccable ground game you end up with one of the most versatile surfers on planet earth.
