Listen in as Jon Pyzel and John John talk through the origin story of his 2024 World Title winning Red Tiger (6'0'' x 19.13 x 2.51 x 30.70 liters).

The interesting and compelling part of this conversation is the fact that Jon Pyzel did not shape the board, or even touch it, until the day before the finals event at Lowers.

Our highly skilled crew at our Oceanside, California factory built the board from start to finish on ultra-short notice just the month before, and John John only rode it 3 times before he took it out, rode 5 waves in 2 heats, defeated a raging Italo Ferriera and won his 3rd World Title on it. Enjoy.

"Something not many people know, but @john_john_florence and I both thought was worth talking about- when he won his 3rd World Title at Trestles last September he was riding a 6'0" Red Tiger that we had our dedicated crew in our Oceanside factory build for him to test out about a month before the finals day event. It's an interesting story that we sat down and talked about together a few months ago.

I want to thank all of the crew there in O'side, and especially DJ Kane, who has been my head shaper over there ever since I first got him started doing like 10 boards a month for me there over a decade back. Also the whole glassing crew at Harborside (including O'side legend and epic guy MB who busted out this board in 2 days and always do incredible work for us, day in and day out.

I can't name everyone who works for us in O'side here, but I hope you know how much I appreciate you all and am so proud of the work you do to help us make great surfboards❤️ You can watch the video of JJF and I talking through the whole story on our YouTube channel and the link in my bio."
