PU
A board built in PU/PE means that we use a Polyurethane foam blank and glass it with Polyester resin. This is how the majority of today’s surfboards are built. It is how we've been making boards for years, and these materials let us make a very stable, strong, consistent, and high-performance board that has the feel that most people are used to.
PU foam is closed celled, meaning it won’t easily soak in water if you ding your board, and that also means that it doesn’t absorb too much resin when getting glassed, keeping your board light. Many surfers prefer the feel of PU/PE boards because that is what they have ridden all their lives, and because they feel really good.
At Pyzel Surfboards we use only the best foam blanks, highest quality fiberglass and resin, and hire the best craftsmen in the industry. The result is light, tight and bright high performance, reasonable priced boards that look beautiful and work great. Below are the glassing options we offer for PU boards. Stock - 4oz + 4oz / 4oz
One piece of 4oz fiberglass cloth is applied to the bottom of the board, while 2 layers of 4 oz cloth is applied to the deck.
Being the standard option for price, strength, flex and weight, our stock glassing is our general glassing for most stock boards as well as what most customers prefer. This offers a lightweight performance feel without sacrificing weight or flex.
Strong - 6 + 4 / 4
One layer of 4oz fiberglass cloth is applied to the bottom of the board. One layer of 4oz and one layer of 6oz cloth is applied to the deck.
Strong glassing is a common upgrade for those who want to sacrifice a bit of that lightweight feel for a stronger board. Substituting one 4 oz cloth for a 6 oz cloth on the deck can prevent the board from receiving what is known as pressure or heel dents as easily and overall improves the strength and impact resistance of the deck. While this may add some extra weight to the board, Strong glassing still comes out fairly light for high performance styled surfing.
Strongest - 6 + 6 / 6oz
One piece of 6oz cloth is applied to the bottom of the board and two layers of 6oz cloth are applied to the deck.
Taking after its name, Strongest glassing is ideal for surfers who want to maximize the strength of their board and will sacrifice even more weight to get there. This glassing option, while still remaining light enough for high performance surfing, is recommended for bigger riders or riders who are known to be hard on their boards, needing extra resistance from pressure dents and breaks. Strongest glassing is also recommended for all longboards & guns.
S-Glass
S Glass is a cloth with a special weave that increases strength without adding weight. Surfers who appreciate a more dent resistant deck will add one layer of S glass to the deck while keeping the board lightweight and responsive.
